How not to A.C.T.

It’s been a week and now we see how ACT can’t seem to put much ACTION into their offerings. No treatment beds available for more than a month.

“Sorry, but we will get you in as soon as we can.”

Go to the shelter. Go to the soup kitchen. Food bank. Somehow get your fixes for another month or so. Sleep rough while you wait. Don’t call us, we’ll call you.

As he waits for them to act, he is homeless and penniless again.

I still don’t know what A.C.T. stands for. The name has such a good ring to it and they say their mandate is outreach. They already knew about my son and had introduced themselves to him. They were waiting for his call. Well he’s now made the call. Now what? And when?

I remind them of how brief the window of opportunity. That my son has actually agreed to go for treatment. That he has realized he has a problem. Briefly.
